เมื่อวันที่ 10 มิถุนายน 2569 รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.อภินันท์ สุวรรณรักษ์ คณบดีคณะเทคโนโลยีการประมงและทรัพยากรทางน้ำ มหาวิทยาลัยแม่โจ้ ได้รับมอบหมายจาก รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.วีระพล ทองมา อธิการบดีมหาวิทยาลัยแม่โจ้ เป็นผู้แทนมหาวิทยาลัยเข้าร่วมประชุมหารือและนำเสนอแนวคิดการพัฒนา เขตนวัตกรรมมูลค่าสูง (Maejo Agricultural Innovation District: MAID) ต่อรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการอุดมศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์ วิจัยและนวัตกรรม (อว.) ณ อาคารกระทรวง อว. เขตพญาไท กรุงเทพมหานคร
การประชุมดังกล่าวจัดขึ้นโดยความร่วมมือระหว่างกระทรวง อว. และสมาคมการผังเมืองไทย โดยมีผู้แทนจากมหาวิทยาลัยชั้นนำของประเทศเข้าร่วม ได้แก่ มหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น มหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีสุรนารี มหาวิทยาลัยบูรพา ตลอดจนเครือข่ายผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านการวางผังเมืองและนวัตกรรม เพื่อร่วมกันขับเคลื่อนแนวทางการพัฒนาเขตนวัตกรรมในพื้นที่ต่าง ๆ ของประเทศ
ในการประชุม รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวง อว. ได้รับฟังข้อเสนอจากทุกภาคส่วน และมีมติเห็นชอบในหลักการ พร้อมเตรียมจัดตั้ง คณะทำงานเฉพาะกิจ เพื่อพัฒนาข้อเสนอเชิงนโยบาย ก่อนนำเสนอเข้าสู่การพิจารณาของคณะรัฐมนตรีต่อไป
สำหรับมหาวิทยาลัยแม่โจ้ ได้นำเสนอแนวคิดการพัฒนาเขตนวัตกรรมที่สอดคล้องกับยุทธศาสตร์ Intelligent Well-being Agriculture (IWA) ซึ่งมุ่งเน้นการบูรณาการองค์ความรู้ เทคโนโลยี และนวัตกรรม ร่วมกับภาคผู้ประกอบการ เพื่อพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจฐาน เกษตร อาหาร และสุขภาพแห่งอนาคต โดยเชื่อมโยงตั้งแต่งานวิจัย การพัฒนาผลิตภัณฑ์ การลงทุน ไปจนถึงการสร้างธุรกิจนวัตกรรมในพื้นที่อย่างครบวงจร
การผลักดันเขตนวัตกรรมมูลค่าสูงในครั้งนี้ คาดว่าจะก่อให้เกิดประโยชน์สำคัญ ได้แก่
- การยกระดับผู้ประกอบการฐานนวัตกรรม
- การดึงดูดการลงทุนจากภาครัฐและเอกชน
- การได้รับสิทธิประโยชน์และมาตรการส่งเสริมการลงทุน
- การพัฒนากำลังคนสมรรถนะสูง
- การจัดตั้ง Agri-Food & Wellness Innovation Hub ที่เชื่อมโยงงานวิจัยสู่เชิงพาณิชย์อย่างเป็นรูปธรรม
ความร่วมมือครั้งนี้ถือเป็นอีกก้าวสำคัญของมหาวิทยาลัยแม่โจ้ในการขับเคลื่อนสู่ มหาวิทยาลัยนวัตกรรม เพื่อสนับสนุนเศรษฐกิจฐานความรู้ของประเทศ และสร้างระบบนิเวศนวัตกรรมที่ตอบโจทย์การพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืนในระดับภูมิภาคและระดับชาติ
On June 10, 2026, Associate Professor Dr. Apinun Suvarnaraksha, Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries Technology and Aquatic Resources at Maejo University, was appointed by Associate Professor Dr. Weerapol Thongma, President of Maejo University, to represent the university at a policy discussion meeting with the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) in Bangkok.
During the meeting, Maejo University presented its concept for developing the Maejo Agricultural Innovation District (MAID), aimed at establishing a high-value innovation zone. The event was jointly organized by MHESI and the Thai Town Planning Association, with participation from leading Thai universities including Prince of Songkla University, Khon Kaen University, Suranaree University of Technology, Burapha University, and experts in urban planning and innovation.
The Minister acknowledged the proposals and approved them in principle, with plans to appoint a special task force to refine policy recommendations before submitting them to the Cabinet for further consideration.
Maejo University’s proposal aligns with its strategic framework of Intelligent Well-being Agriculture (IWA). This approach emphasizes the integration of knowledge, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship to drive a future-oriented economy based on agriculture, food, and health. The model connects research, product development, investment, and innovation-driven business creation into a cohesive ecosystem.
The proposed high-value innovation district is expected to deliver several key benefits, including:
- Strengthening innovation-based entrepreneurs
- Attracting public and private sector investment
- Enhancing investment incentives and benefits
- Developing a highly skilled workforce
- Establishing an Agri-Food & Wellness Innovation Hub to effectively translate research into commercial applications
This initiative marks another significant milestone for Maejo University in advancing its role as an innovation-driven university, contributing to Thailand’s knowledge-based economy and fostering a sustainable innovation ecosystem at both regional and national levels.
