On August 21, 2026, the Faculty of Fisheries Technology and Aquatic Resources organized a Merit-Making, Fish Life-Extension Ceremony, and Fish Release for Conservation under the Cultural Preservation and Fisheries Resource Conservation Promotion Project. The event aimed to promote cultural heritage, enhance spiritual well-being, and encourage the sustainable conservation of fisheries resources and aquatic ecosystems.
At 9:19 a.m., the Dean, Associate Deans, Assistant Deans, Director of the Dean’s Office, faculty members, staff, and students participated in a traditional fish life-extension ceremony. The ceremony was conducted to bring good fortune, accumulate merit, and ward off misfortune according to local cultural beliefs and traditions. It also served as an important activity to preserve cultural heritage while raising awareness of the conservation of natural aquatic ecosystems.
Later, at 11:00 a.m., administrators, staff, and students jointly released 20,000 fish fingerlings into Maejo Stream. The activity was intended to replenish fish populations, enhance the abundance of aquatic resources, and promote the sustainable conservation of fisheries resources and ecosystem balance.
This event was held in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother on the auspicious occasion of her 94th Birthday Anniversary, August 12. The activity reflected loyalty and gratitude for Her Majesty’s benevolence while encouraging public participation in the conservation of natural resources and environmental sustainability for future generations.
